Ultrasound

Get an ultrasound to confirm the viability of your pregnancy.

The most accurate way to date a pregnancy is by ultrasound. Many clients find out that they are at a very different point in their pregnancy than they thought.

The date of your LMP (last menstrual period) should not be relied on to determine the gestational age of your pregnancy.

Knowing precisely how far along you are in your pregnancy is important because it could effect your decision.

Your ultrasound will be performed by an RDMS (registered diagnostic medical sonographer). You will then be able to discuss the results of your ultrasound as well as your options with an RN.

A Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound, if appropriate, can:

1) determine gestational age (how many weeks into the pregnancy you are)

2) confirm that the pregnancy is viable (that you are not miscarrying), and

3) determine if the pregnancy is ectopic, a serious medical condition in which the pregnancy implants and grows outside of the main cavity of the uterus.
